We thought you might like to know a bit about who you are supporting so we will feature a brief bio of each of us. That way when you see us whizzing by on the road, you’ll know who to cheer for. Or who likes to eat ribs in their pajamas. Or who loves reality television. Or who is a “gleek”. You get the picture…

To keep it easy on everyone, we had our team answer the same questions:

First up – Patrick.

  1. Name: Patrick Barker
  2. Hometown: Morehead, KY
  3. Pays the bills by working at State Farm
  4. Runs in Mizuno Wave Riders
  5. Will be running like the wind on legs 4, 16, 28
  6. Most played songs on his iPod right are actually several songs from Glee
  7. His guilty pleasure is watching trashy reality TV shows (don’t judge him!)
  8. His life ambition is to visit the basketball arena of every NCAA D1 team in the country.  Current standings: 17 out of 345.

Next in line – Amy Brin.

  3. Pays the bills by going to her on-line bank account and hit ‘pay bills’
  4. Running shoes- Two criteria: 1) on sale and 2) absolutely no trace of pink or purple. Just like a woman, a good running shoe can be more than just 2 colors.

  6. What is the most played song on your ipod right now: Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory”
  7. Guilty pleasure: Nick Ryan’s short ribs …on my couch…still in my pjs @ noon on a Sunday while watching “West Wing” reruns.
  8. Anything else you want to add: I credit running for all the good decisions I’ve made in life; and for helping me process, heal, and forget all the bad ones!! 🙂

  7. Guilty pleasure:  E Documentaries (great entertainment while running on the treadmill) (seriously, the Snookie doc got me through 4 miles the other day when I felt like I couldn’t go on) *fist pump*
  8. Anything else? I once stalked 1996 NCAA Champion Mark Pope…I sent him socks, I “ran into” him at Wildcat Lodge.  I was only 16, to be fair…and would never do that to a UK player today at age 31…never…well, maybe…

  3. What  you do to pay the bills: Recruit the best & brightest for UK
  4. Running shoes:  Nike Pegasus (pink) – yes, I’m that girl… (sorry Amy Brin- see above.)
  5. She’ll be running strong on legs 9, 21 and 33

  7. Guilty pleasure:  cheeeeeeezzzzzzzzeeeeeeee – enough said

Meet Erin Ziegler, our southern belle
  1. Name: Erin Holaday Ziegler
  2. Hometown:  I’ve lived a few places: Kansas City, Missouri, Mobile, Alabama and Charleston, South Carolina, to name a few.
  3. I pay the bills with my words. PR guru at University of Kentucky’s Office of Public Relations and Marketing, Marketing Assistant at Bourbon & Beans design, marketing and business consulting and freelance writer with Business Lexington
  4. Running shoes: I need to get to John’s Run/Walk Shop, actually.
  5. She can be seen running legs: in short-shorts.

  7. Guilty pleasure:  “Pride and Prejudice” movie or Jane Austen book marathons, Graeter’s ice cream, American India Pale Ale, Bulleit Bourbon, Taylor Swift… not necessarily at the same time.

5.  What legs on the race? Leg 2, 14, and 26.  I’ll be throwing up toward the end of Leg 14. (check back on the blog for this Kodak moment!)
6.  Most played song on iPod:  “Playing With Fire,” by Brandon Flowers
7.  Guilty Pleasure:  Anything having to do with Batman.  Or Indiana Jones.  Or Alfred Hitchcock.  Or Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  Actually, I have a fairly raging guilt-complex, so I generally under the assumption that I should be embarrassed about anything that brings me pleasure.

Meet Stephen Barnett, head of our morale department!
  1. Name: Stephen Lee Barnett, Jr. or Stevie to my nieces and nephew
  2. Hometown: Versailles, KY
  3. Pays the bills by  working at the state’s flagship with recruitment, advising conferences, campus visits and residency – on the side I serve as President of the Collegiate Information & Visitor Services Association (CIVSA), only the best organization in the world!

What is the most played song on your iPod right now: Oh gosh… it would have to be a mix of songs…  probably a little something by Lady Antebellum mixed in with some Melissa Etheridge and a dash of Whitney Houston and  Sugarland – have really gotten the song “You and Tequila” stuck in my head quite a bit lately…

  2. Hometown: Born in Edmond, OK; grew up in Maysville, KY; lived in Lexington, KY since college- take your pick
  3. Pays the bills by being a font nerd (graphic designer, whatever) at the University of Kentucky.
  4. Runs slowly and prefers downhill in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10s.
  5. Can be seen running legs 3, 15 and 27 (here’s the description of Leg 27: Most of this leg runs along a very narrow road and crosses a bridge
    HIGH above the KY River. In fact, the railroad bridge to your right is known as High Bridge because at the time it was built, it was the highest
    railroad bridge in America.) Wait. What?
  6. What is the most played song on your iPod right now: B.O.B. “Nothin’ On You” but only because it got stuck on repeat during a long-ish run. It has since been removed because I can’t stand it anymore. However I can’t stand not having music even more so I HAD to listen.
  7. Guilty pleasure: Reality TV (the trashier the better), peanut butter and chocolate, chocolate and peanut butter
  8. Anything else: I have twin 10-year old boys. Therefore, I don’t scare easily. And I run because it is cheaper than therapy.  (see previous mention of twin 10-year old boys as to why therapy is needed…)
